Letter: Allowance claims by councillors
In Cllr Broadbent’s letter, he called out the North Yorkshire Tories for increasing their councillor allowance by 2.5% per annum.
I note that another councillor says he won’t be taking the rise and will be donating it to the Little Foot Trust children’s charity.

Imagine my surprise when it was revealed that Cllr Broadbent, whilst in receipt of £255 per annum from Scarborough Borough Council for broadband, was also in receipt of around £500 per annum from North Yorkshire County Council for, you guessed it, broadband.
I’ll be running for election to North Yorkshire County Council on May 4.
One of my objectives, should I get elected, will be to sour the trough that councillors have their noses in.
